BMFA RC achievement scheme scheme
In the SMAC we are actively supporting and participating in the BMFA RC achievement scheme. We feel that is great way for RC modellers to be recognised for their personal achievements within the hobby of RC flying, there are tests for all types of RC models and ability levels from safe solo pilots through to serious display and competition pilots.
The aim of the RC Achievement Scheme is to encourage RC model flyers to improve their standard of flying and safety, and to raise awareness of the legal controls relating to model aircraft flying and to prove that standard and awareness to an Examiner. The scheme is run by the BMFA as a National Scheme and it is open to all RC model flyers, including non-
It is important to appreciate that the scheme is not primarily about permitting or licensing. Fundamentally, the scheme is all about personal goals and challenges. It is intended to provide every RC flyer with something to aspire to and aim for, should they so wish. The scheme is not compulsory!
For 2017 the SMAC have two additional examiners, who are Richard Sharman and Barrie Lever. We will also be holding workshop evenings to better explain the achievement scheme and help prepare members for various levels within the scheme.
The first of these evenings will be held on the 12th April at ‘The Ship inn’, there will be representatives from the BMFA achievement scheme to answer questions and generally guide the members through the requirements and aims of the tests.
